Willow for Family, Friends, and Supporters in Avila House, Blackrock

5 X 2 hour sessions.

Facilitated by a HSE Social Worker and an ARCHES staff member, Willow explores identity and self-care when supporting people in your life who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

The course is called Willow as the Willow branch is a metaphor for the need for supporters to be flexible but not to break.

It examines:

  1. What to expect from mental health services,
  2. Listening and communication,
  3. The meaning of being a supporter, and
  4. How to be an empowering supporter.

Willow can help supporters articulate and normalise their lived experience; develop new coping mechanisms; and discuss ways of helping their loved one.

Location: Avila House, Blackrock, Co Dublin.

1.30pm – 3.30pm Fridays 6, 13, 20, 27 September, and 4 October

The Willow course is suitable for anyone who is is a member of a family impacted by poor mental health or a friend or supporter of someone experiencing mental health difficulties.
