A recent review published in Psychiatric Services (Thériault et al., 2020) concluded that there is evidence that suggests attending a Recovery College is linked with:

  • Attainment of recovery goals,
  • Improved quality of life and well-being,
  • Increased knowledge and self-management skills,
  • Reduced service use, and
  • Positive changes in service providers’ practice.

However, detailed, high-quality research studies examining of the effects of Recovery Colleges that better control for bias and examine long-term effects are now needed.
